---Although
the move of Howard’s XI Corps and Slocum’s XII Corps from Virginia to
Chattanooga is to be done with absolute secrecy, the New York Evening Post publishes, in complete
detail, all the particulars of the movement of these troops to Chattanooga,
even though neither corps had yet moved.
A friend of Lincoln’s reports that the President “was exceedingly
angry.”
